Captains log 25/06/13 Zedar! With a small stop off at split. We wake up after an early night of me rubbing Bella's head, watching reruns of US sitcoms and sipping on a glass of red. It's sad to say it was kind of nice to lay in bed and watch tv! We start our drive and it's not long before we reach the boarder of Bosnia, we just drive though. A quick history refresher and a stop to have an espresso and a toilet break. Its sad to think that this area is the whole reason the First World War was started with the assassination of Fran's Ferdinand, silly choices. We get back on the bus and drive straight though only a 30 minute stop there, again driving right though the boarder, I'm coming to think this boarder passing is easier then expected, but I guess getting back into the European Union area might be harder seeing as we've been out east. We're heading to the coast town of Split. The retirement castle of a Roman Emperor, his name evading me right now but the one that split up the empire into east and west. Sadly the area of Split is named after the local plant life and not this fact! Bella 1, Troy 0. We settle in for lunch with a big group of us, it was quite nice and really cheap. 15 euro for a steak is insane. I had garlic muscles and shared them with wriggles (the other chef on tour) and Bella had scampi soup, that was nice. For mains I had veal medallions in a mushroom sauce and a side of chips and Bella had fillet steak. A really nice meal, washed down with a pint of the local brew. I quite like the Croatia beer, seeing as I've been having the local beer in every place we go I think this and the Spanish one has been my favorite so far!! We then wondered off for a look around the palace, it's really nice! It's a strange little market place now full of street venders and stalls, really cool! I got a post card for Nanna's birthday, and if your reading this it's on the way :)! And we head off again. The drive into Zedar is an ok one, very pretty views, however Bella is still feeling rough so she spends the bus trip curled in a ball on my lap like some kind of tiger cub, poor thing. We get to our hotel and its ok, shrug its a bed! We go down for dinner, we had a chicken and noodle broth that I can remember having as a teenager at my Croatian friend Mario's house, that took me back. Some roast pork and a few veggies it was ok, better then expected. Bella goes to bed and I go to keep her company. Soon she is snoring and I'm watching euro sports, US boxing with Croatia commentary is quite funny. They scream if there is a jab parried, a good laugh. Time to get some rest, big drive tomorrow! Vienna here we come!
