G'day! We arrived in Sydney at 7.35am this morning (we're 9hrs ahead over here!) and were picked up at the airport by the hostel. The journey to the hostel was interesting, bit of a maniac driver! lol. Very impatient with the other road users! But got here safely. We checked in and went up to our room. The room is ok, has got a bunk bed plus a sink and fridge then we have to share the bathroom. Downstairs theres a kitchen and tv etc. The reality of the trip really sunk in when we got to our room and sat down for the first time, think we both realised how far from home we were!! But we didn't cry, yay! Instead we sorted out our stuff and had showers before planning the rest of our day. We decided to take a walk around to get our bearings. So headed off in the direction of the city centre. We found the botanic gardens, and then ended up at the opera house and sydney harbour bridge. The views were very impressive. Everything here is very relaxed, although there are lots of tourists, it doesnt feel too busy which is nice. We had a good walk round and worked out exactly what to do whilst we are here before heading back to the hostel. Its now the mid afternoon and we are both exhausted! lol. the jetlag is kicking in but we are going to stay awake for a bit longer so will hopefully sleep right through the night. Tomorrows its Ali's 21st bday so we've got quite a bit planned to make it a special day for her, which I'll keep you posted about in my next entry! Then on Thursday its off to Canberra. The flights over were ok. The first one to Hong Kong was pretty good. Although it was 12 hours I actually slept for most of it so the time went quickly. But the second flight, around 9hrs, seemed a lot longer as I had trouble sleeping (and film choice was rubbish so didn't even open my headphones! lol) We spent 4hrs at hong kong airport inbetween. Had something to eat and wandered the shops before boarding for the next flight. I hope everyone is ok. Miss everyone loads. Make sure you all email me with your news!
