Becky's Trip to Oz & NZ
G'day! Sorry its taken so long to write, but been very busy so I'm afraid this will be a long one as I catch up with you all so make sure your sitting comfortably! lol. Ok, so on thursday we checked out of our hostel in Melbourne and then dropped our luggage at the station. Our train wasn't until 8pm that night so we went back to the hostel for a few hours and sat in the bar reading and watching some tv. Then we headed over the road to a big complex, which has a casino (its really is like Vegas in there!), loads of shops and restaurants plus a cinema and theatre. We went and saw Pirates of the Carribean 2, it was pretty good. Then we headed to the station to wait for our train. At the station we coincidentally bumped into a guy called Chris who was on our Ocean Road tour and was getting our train so we chatted to him for a bit. The train ride to Sydney was 11hrs long, it was terrible. There was a 2hr delay as we got stuck on the line due to some signalling problems, and we had the family from HELL sitting right behind us and so we actually didn't sleep for the whole night. On Friday we got to Sydney at about 8.30am I think and we were shattered. We got the tube to another part of town and then walked to our hostel. We weren't impressed as it said online it would be a 7 minute walk, but it took 40 mins! And it was up some really steep hills so we weren't happy! The hostel was a complete disaster so we were glad we only stayed one night. Ended up sharing a room with 5 others (so 7 in total!) even though we only booked a 4 person room (don't ask!). We had a little nap to try and wake ourselves up and then went back into the city and went to a market that we found the week before. We then got an early night. On Saturday we got the train to Kiama, 2.5hrs south of Sydney on the coast. We were met at the station by my great aunt and we spent the next 2 nights at her house. It was a great weekend. We went to see the Blowhole which is the main attraction in the town and she also showed us the local shops and we had an ice cream. Then in the evening, after happy hour (drinks and nibbles! lol) and dinner we watched a DVD that we rented. I can't think of the name but its was a recent english comedy with Rowan Atkinson and Maggie Smith. It was pretty good. On Sunday we drove to a place called Berry and had a look at the shops there and had a tea and cake and then we had a look at seven mile beach (luckily didn't walk it all! lol). After lunch Sylvia dropped me and Ali off at Minnamarra Rainforest and we walked round there (about 5km) and saw some waterfalls. In the evening we watched another DVD, of Will and Grace. Today we got the train back to Sydney and checked into our new hostel. Luckily its much better than the last. We are in a 4 bed dorm again, sharing with a guy from Liverpool. We got the train down to the harbour and took a ferry to Darling Harbour and went to the aquarium and then looked round the shops before getting the ferry back again. We have just had diner (soup) and got talking to 2 girls who arrived in Sydney today. They have been to Peru, Fiji and NZ and we are going out with them tonight into the city. Tomorrow we are getting up early as getting the 7.25am train to the Blue Mountains to spend the day there. It should be a good day as the weather is supposed to be very good tomorrrow. On Wednesday we are going to visit Bondi Beach and then we may go whale watching in the afternoon as we weren't able to do it today. Hope everyone is ok. I have been meaning to mention something for the last week - Tesco Finest Muesli!! Everyone MUST go out and buy it ASAP! I need sales to go through the roof! Thanks guys! Missing you all, hope to hear from you all soon. Keep in touch. Bex xxxxxxxxxxxxx
