Becky's Trip to Oz & NZ
G'day!! Ok, finally managed to get on the internet! lol. Got loads to fill you all in on so hope your all comfy! Ok, so on wednesday it was Alis 21st. We began by walking down to the harbour and took a cruise onto the surrounding area, which went right round the opera house, under the harbour bridge etc. It was really good and a great place to get some good photos of all the sights. We then sat by the harbour and had an ice cream. The weather was lovely! Really warm, so warm that Ali actually put sun cream on and we didn't need jumpers or anything so was impressed with that. Then at 1.45pm we went to our main attraction for the day - the harbour bridge climb! For those of you that aren't sure what I mean, check out www.bridgeclimb.com. Basically you climb the framework of the sydney harbour bridge right to the middle, then back again. Its 379m high! I still can't believe I did it!!!! I was quite nervous to begin with but once you get started it wasn't too bad. I was VERY pleased with myself after! The view was amazing from the top. And not as scary as I thought it would be, though you do have to walk above 6 lanes of car traffic and 2 train lines...! So we were both on a big high after doing that, both came off it feeling very shaky but pleased with ourselves! We then got the train back to the hostel and changed for the evening before getting the train back down to the harbour. As it was Ali bday we decided to have a meal out so we went to a restaurant below the opera house which overlooks the bridge and harbour. It was really nice. Then we got the bus back to the hostel. On thursday we trekked into town, both our bags are a nightmare!! lol. They are sooooo heavy and the annoying thing is that we haven't actually added anything to them yet...so the next few weeks will be interesting! Then we got the train at midday to canberra. Our hostel here is ok, we are in a dorm with 2 other girls. Today we have been sightseeing in canberra. Its a weird town, very planned, everything is in straight lines or circles! Its also really quiet and nothing like sydney. Theres not actually much to do here so its a bit boring. We visited the parliament house then the town centre, then we WALKED up mount ainslie (its sooooo high!) and that nearly killed us! lol. Then we went round the war memorial museum before heading back to the hostel. The plan now is to relax for the evening as we are getting the train at 9.30am tomorrow which is 9.5hrs to Melbourne so not too nice but the trains are pretty good here for long distance so shouldn't be too bad. Looking forward to Melbourne, got the tour of Neighbours on monday which I'm soooo excited about lol! We have started watching Neighbours over here, theres lots coming up! Can't believe some of the stuff thats happening right now! Don't worry I won't tell :0P Hope everyone is ok. Am enjoying reading all your messages, keep sending them!! MSN isn't working today so can't send emails but will try in Melbourne. Hope everyone is ok. Miss you all and hope things are going well back home. Will write again soon, Becky xxxxxx P.S. The kangaroo sign is for the train ride yesterday. On the way to Canberra you could see a pack of about 30 kangaroos just hopping along but the train tracks! Very cool! xxxx
