It was only a 2 hour bus trip to Kampot which wasn't to bad, just the stupidly loud Cambodian kareoke music ruined it just a little. The bus pulled up outside Kampot Guest house which was $5 a night so we decided to stay there instead of walking round in the rain.
We set off walking into the town but soon realised there really wasnt much to it. We walked along the river and came across seeing hands massage. I had wanted to go to one of these since we arrived in Cambodia as it is massges by the blind, all the money goes to them. It was really really good. We both just paid $2 each for a 30 minute massage and left feeling amazing. They too guys that did it were so friendly and it was like they could sense the bad points in our back without even asking. We were already sold on a massage the next day.
We found a cheap restaurant next door and stopped in there for food but after that there was nothing else really much to do.
The next day we all hired scooters to go and explore Kep and the countryside. On the way we stopped for breakfast at Kampot Pie and Ice cream, a tiny little bakery run by a lovely lady. It was in the most random plae and didnt look much but inside it was lke grndmas kitchen full of fresh buns and cakes laid out. We had a breakfast with fresh made bread and decided we would be back there for afternoon tea.
Kep
We set of on our bikes down some crazy dirt track and before long the views were just amazing. The land is so flat with mountains in the distance and just miles and miles of rice paddies. We came accorss some mangroves with little men in their fishing boats that lead down to the salt flats. Kampot apparently is famous worldwide for the salt and pepper it produces. It took us just over half an hour to get to Kep but sadly the beaches rated top 20 in the lonely planet were non existent. Were gussing because of the season it was high tide.
We pulled up into a crazy little crab market, they seemed quite suprised when we didnt actually want to by 5kilos of fresh crab but it was great watching them catch it in the sea and cook it straight away. We even saw them cooking stingray on a bbq. Along they way we stopped at various points to take photos as the views were just great. 2 funny things I saw on the way back, first of all a man running to catch his cow, he didnt get there in time and the cw bellyflopped into a fully grown ready to be pick rice paddy, the look on the guys face was hilarious. Secondly a man driving down the road with a dead cow on the back of his scooter. I mean we have seen some crazy things and full on hardward stores pilled on the back but a dead cow, its head was just flapping in the wind.
We got back and went for our tea and cake, well me, James and Harry and these chicken curry pies that really tasted more like a cornish pasty but absolutely amazing.
Again we went for a massge at the seeing hands place and had tea in the resuatrant they also owned next door.
The following day we were going back to Pnom Penh for one last trip to the russian market so James can get more converse and our fllight to Kuala Lumper. We still had our bike so dressed like a local in full length ponchos we got on our bike and went back to the bakery for our final breakfast.

Grandma & Grandad A good massage is just what we would like. It is so expensive here and in particular on the cruise we ar due to go on. Take great care in Malaysia as they crack down hard on dropped litter and in particular chewing gum. Lots oflove Grandma & Grandad
