Becky Bravo's Adventures
OK, so I was going to take some pictures to post with this blog, but unfortunately the rocking does make me kind of lazy, and I do have reading to do. Plus, I haven't posted in a few days, so I thought I would update because I have some great things to share. Tomorrow at about noon we will be crossing the Equator. There is usually a celebration for that, but we won't have it til after our stop in Brazil on our way to Africa. That is the time when people shave their heads and apparently other various things happen. Of course I will be participating in the fun, but don't worry my lovely salon co-workers, I will not be shaving my head. I thought about it but I'm kinda digging how long my hair is getting. I can actually pull back into a pony tail! It will probably be to like my shoulders by the time I get back in May. My second piece of news is Classic Becky. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was signing autographs yesterday, so of course I went in to get one. I was carrying one of my textbooks because I was studying. (yes, we actually do study here.) As I was getting up to leave, the book slipped out of my grasp and fell on his fingers! Leave it to me to hurt the Archbishop. He was ok though, I still felt like an idiot. But luckily, that is not that worst that has happened. Apparently on a previous voyage that Desmond Tutu was on, a student was walking up the stairs, and because of the rocking of the boat, the student accidentally tripped Desmond Tutu. As if that wasn't bad enough, the student then yelled out the F-word. So, I guess my little accident isn't much to worry about. Accidents happen. More often to me than others it seems, but they do happen. And for my third piece of news, I decided that I am going to major in Sociology. I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in once I transferred to Long Beach, but now I do, and it's a good feeling. I might minor in Health Sciences, I don't know for sure about that though. I will probably post one more time before Brazil, and hopefully a bunch while in Brazil assuming I can find an internet café. I have been hearing that Brazil is probably the most dangerous country that we will be visiting, so please pray for my safety, and the safety of the other 701 students that are with me.
