Becky Bravo's Adventures
After a four and half hour flight, Jaime and I arrived in Mexico safely. It was drizzling when we got here, but no big deal, because it was still in the 80's, and the rain didn't last long. Our resort is ridiculously beautiful. We arrived here, met up with the soon to be Newlyweds - Jon and Shareen and the four of us and Shareen's parents went to dinner. We had....wait for it....MEXICAN FOOD! And it was delicious.
So, here comes my favorite part of the evening...Shareen's dad showed us a daily schedule that the resort puts out, and as we were eating, I read that tonight there was an American Idol competition. Being naturally curious, I went to the front desk and asked if guests were able to sign up, or if it was just a show to watch. It was a karaoke contest for guests, but not just karaoke, singers were backed up by a live band! I ran to where the sign ups were and luckily got to be number 3 on the list. There were only 4 performers.
So here is how it worked, we got to choose from a list of songs (I chose I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett) and they had volunteers be judges, and the band played, and contestants sang. After, the winner was decided by a combination of audience applause, the volunteer judges, and the workers at the resort. I do not want to toot my own horn or anything, but I KILLED it! I knew the song well enough that I could go into the audience and sing and I even ended my performance with a backflip.
And the winner was...............BECKY!!! And I won 2 free nights at any Sapphire resort - and they are in multiple countries. Who knows if I will get a chance to use it, but it was super fun nonetheless. And as Jaime and I were walking back to my room, a little kid was walking by and congratulated me on my performance. Probably the closest I will ever get to being an American Idol, so I will take it.
When we got back to the room, we felt a little hungry, and lucky for us, room service is available 24 hours a day!! Say what?! So now we are awaiting some pizza and diet sodas to be delivered to our room. I should probably not get used to being so spoiled.
Tomorrow it is early to rise for a 6am departure to Chichen Itza. And then Friday is the wedding. More fun will be shared later. Thanks for checking in. ;)
