Becky Bravo's Adventures
So, Saturday night I went to bed early because I had a terrible scratchy throat and a little bit of a cough. Nothing was going to stop us from taking this mini but much needed vacation. So I took some NyQuil and went to bed around 9pm. I slept through the night, but skipped church on Sunday morning so I could get some good rest and be better for the trip.
I got up around 9am and took Winnie out for her morning walk. On our way back to the apartment, she got stung by a BEE!!! I of course freaked out. We got back into the apartment, and Jaime was able to remove the stinger, but she immediately had an accident and then threw up. So we took her to the emergency clinic to get her checked out. This took about 2 hours. And in that time, we were calling the Cruise line asking what our options were if we didn't make it to the ship. Of course our options were not good. Basically eat the cost of the trip.
The doctors checked Winnie out and said her reaction was most likely due to her being frightened at what happened, but she was acting normal and didn't have any other visible reactions. So they gave her a Benadryl shot, and some extra Benadryl pills just in case, but she was fine to be dropped off at Daycare for the cruise.
So we finally get home, finish packing, drop Winnie off at daycare, and await Jaime's cousin to come get us to drop us off at the docks. Our scheduled boarding time was 2:30pm, but we were told that as long as we were there and checked in by 4:30pm at the latest, we could still board the ship. So Christian (Jaime's cousin) gets to our place about 3pm, and picks us up to get to Long Beach.
From where we live in Costa Mesa to Long Beach should only be about at 20 minute drive, however just our luck, there was not one, but TWO accidents on the 405 freeway and it took almost an hour to get up to the docks. Well you can imagine our relief when we pulled up and they took our checked baggage and told us we were there in plenty of time to check in.
We get in the very long check in line and ended up being LITERALLY the LAST people in line to get checked in. Our check-in was fairly quick, so we weren't the last ones on the ship, but pretty close to it.
We were so relieved to be aboard the ship to begin our vacation. We were able to check on Winnie from the webcam app our Daycare has, so everything was all good.
The ship left Long Beach around 5pm, and we immediately ate dinner, got on our suits and relaxed by the pool/hot tub for the rest of the evening. We called it an early night because we were just exhausted and wanted to enjoy our next day in Catalina.
