Becky Bravo's Adventures
Well, now we are back to our regular lives. It happens so quickly it is hard to believe that just yesterday morning we were sailing, laying on the beach and relaxing in the pool in Cancun. But being home really does make you appreciate and realize just how awesome vacations are. I included a couple pictures of our last hours at the resort. It was a good time.
Not to get all philosophical and poetic, but this trip made me realize several things. Let me rephrase that - I already knew these things but I guess I was just reminded.
Every time I go someplace new I am blown away at the amazing beauty of this planet that God created.
My brother Jon just got married back in March (I was a bridesmaid) in Chicago and then we went to this special destination wedding where Jaime was a groomsmen. Jaime and I are honored that we were asked to be a part of such wonderful celebrations of love.
Today marriage has become almost no big deal. People do it to have a 'wedding' or because they don't want to be a certain age and be single. And with everybody's obsession with celebrity weddings, it is like ENOUGH! But when two people love each other and want to make that commitment before their family and friends and God, it is something to be celebrated. Jaime and I met this amazing couple - Brandy and Raymond - on the beach on Monday. They set up on some beach chairs next to us, and we struck up a conversation with them. They asked what we were doing in Cancun and we explained we were there for a friend's wedding. Their eyes lit up and they said "Wow! Congrats to them! We have been married 22 years ourselves." That is very impressive nowadays. So Jaime and I told them we thought that was just amazing because they looked like they were on a honeymoon themselves. Raymond pointed to Brandy and said "This is my best friend right here, and if it weren't for God blessing us as he did, we never would have found each other and we are so thankful for that." We were sitting there on the beach just having celebrated our friends new life together and learning about a couple who have spent their whole lives together and just felt surrounded by love. It was a beautiful moment on a beautiful beach with this beautiful couple.
Now I am going to get really sappy here so brace yourself. In that moment I looked at Jaime and was just reminded how lucky I am. To be in such a beautiful place with the most fun and interesting and gorgeous person I know. When Raymond said Brandy was his best friend I thought to myself wow, they are just like us! Any moment with Jaime whether it is sitting in our sweat pants at home watching a movie we have seen a million times already, or in some exotic place in a foreign country, I always have the time of my life with this guy. He looks out for me and always makes sure everything is alright no matter what the situation was. When we were on the boat with the Whale Sharks we were both sea sick. But Jaime was a lot worse. He actually puked off the side of the ship, and for a Mexican became almost ghost white with nausea. His first concern was that I was doing alright and wasn't getting sick. He made sure I got my butt back in the water for my third swim with the Whale Sharks and told me not to worry about him. He was clearly still sick to his stomach and while I did my best to take care of him, he was the one making sure I was doing okay for the boat trip back. When we are at home he watches Buffy with me and endures my obsession with Shark Week and looking for pictures of puppies on the internet. He cooks my meals in separate pans because he knows I can't have it be cooked with meat. We celebrated our three-year anniversary this past weekend, and I really didn't know it was possible to love him any more but I do. How I deserve this, I will never know. God has truly blessed us and our relationship and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.
Until next trip, adios! Thanks for reading. ;)
