We eventually left Koh Tao (after numerous attempts) and headed to the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan. We arrived in Bangkok Thursday afternoon and caught a shuttle bus to take us from the new airport to Khao San Rd. Little did we know that today was the first day of Songkran - Thai New Year. This is celebrated across 4 days by throwing huge amounts of water over everybody and covering people with white powder/talc.
