I apologise if this post is quite abrupt, I'd just finished writing an extremely long descriptive one and it somehow deleted itself when it was loading! GRRR! So I'm having to start again...
So basically after the first few days being surrounded in master disaster and negative feelings by alot of the group because of the silly teacha language school people, I've decided I'm loving life once again. Island life as it were. We arrived on Sunday after the most horrific boat journey (in a monsoon) ever experienced and the only way I got through it without vomiting was with sheer effort...oh and the very handy tip given to me by Mum and Dad whilst younger of watching the horizon. I think alot of people thought I was a little odd. But anyway when we finally landed I was so ill that I didn't really take in just how beautiful the island is...
It really is the most beautiful place I've ever visited, with the picturesque mountains covered in jungle acting as a backdrop for the clearest aqua sea and white sands. Shown by the picture of sunset.
So we have finished our 3rd day of teaching which I'm also enjoying more, especially when we do peer teaching presentations and thai language lessons. I've got an ish handle on a few basic terms now and keep trying to speak it to the thai locals, they kind of just giggle (not because I'm rubbish but because its a 'farang' trying to speak thai) but they still give me stuff cheaper when I try!!!
At lunch today it wasn't raining for once so we spent the hour and a half sunbathing and swimming in the sea, when we went back to the coolish classroom I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open!!!
And now I'm sat in a restaurant with Kylie sharing a pizza and chips (I know very western) because I'm trying to budget and so far doing an awful job! Islands are so expensive! But turns out we are rubbish at maths, and its 250 baht each! £5!! shocking!! So are now returning back to the room to watch Miranda with some of the other girls. Like I said. Pure. Island. Bliss....
