Arrived in Bali quite late Thursday night. I was pretty nervous, especially after all the media attention to the Aussie girl being sentenced to 20 years. Could tell who were the aussie travellers due to all the clingfilmed bags! Straight as I got off the plane could feel the oppressive heat and after Perth's rain a bit of a shock to the system! Luckily the hotel bus was there to meet me and a quick drive to the resort. After a nice lie in I enjoyed a Baliense massage, complimentary for staying at the resort. I could get used to this! Spent the rest of the day exploring Tuban and Kuta. Very touristy and felt was like the costa blanca in spain. I mainly was just trying to avoid being hassled by the locals. You could not walk 5 steps without another person trying to sell you something! Mark arrived on Saturday afternoon and was great to have someone to tell the hawkers were to go! We mainly spent the rest of the week walking around the shops (there were a lot!!), enjoying the DVD stalls and relaxing around the resort. Bali was a really nice relaxing week but I am not sure if I would be in a hurry to return. Nice and hot but their driving is certainly interesting as they do not seem to look where they are going or worry about people walking about! The food was great and drinks so cheap, managed to force down a few cocktails!
