We arrived in San Pedro after an 18 hour over night bus trip from La Serena. The town is like something from a western movie with sand houses and dust streets. There is one main plaza and street, few bars and restaurants. We are now at 2500m and so just going to stay here a few days to get used to the altitude before our 4 day jeep trip across the salt plains into Bolivia on Saturday. Arrived here on Thursday and just been spending the last few days shopping and walking around the city. Last night saw the sunset against the andes and even managed a trip to the cinema! Arrived in Chile yesterday after quite an effort getting across the border.
