Well I got went for a quick walk after getting to my hostel and decided I liked Melbourne as a city better than Sydney. It doesn't have the wow factor sights but the city seems more pleasant, it has a bit more of an arty vibe and the streets are wider with building not quite so high towering above you. I especially like the fact the man in the hostel told me about the free internet at the library! You do have to que but at least you can't see your moeny ticking down with the seconds you use! I treated myself to Nando's as I know that is what the family were doing at home in my absence!
Again a brief city stop due to the fact I decided I wanted to go to Tasmania and the fact the Grand Prix is on in Melbourne at the weekend so it is too hard to get cheap accomodation! I had one full day here before flying out the next morning. I went round Victoria market, which is I think the best market I have ever been too, it had 100's of amazing stores - all fresh produce and deli items as well as the more traditional market stalls, it was huge! I got a german hot dog for breakie!
In the afternoon I headed to the Charlton Gardens which are near my hostel, unfortunately they are having a flower show there tomorrow so most of it was closed off. I was tempted to go to the museum except it cost more money so I went to get the free sight seeing bus - then found I had been waiting in the wrong stop so it drove on past!! As it was getting a bit late I settled for a wander round the local streets where they have a little Chinatown and Theatre district along with a Greek district. Next time I will get the free bus! The trouble with cities are that they cost money, all the good things to do you need money for and it would be good to have some company too - it's no fun going to the theatre on your own or eating at many of the little cafe's or equisite restaurants on your tod!! You do get a good feel for he town though and I like Melbourne!
