Had a really good nights sleep at homestay and enjoyed it soooo much more than i thought i would (had been dreading it!) Was definately the best part!! The next morning we had aanother bicycle tour this time around the homestay village! The scenery was really pretty and what we expected to see in northern thailand-rice paddies, workers with those funny hats, cattle etc... We stopped at the local school and mushroom farm (i bet your jealous) and it was a really nice morning but everone was suffering in the heat-was 40 degrees!!! Unbearable!! Slightly more bearable when we found a really nice shop and bought as much as we could!!! Love the prices out here!!
Back at homestay we had another thai meal before heading upto our hotel in chiang mai. On the way we stopped at the hot springs where i burnt my hand and was genuinely surprised the HOT springs were in fact hot..oh dear! Arriving in chiang mai it was back to all our home comforts-beds, tv, hot shower and A/C!!! Bliss! That day we went exploring the town and did lots of shopping in the markets-we were out of control! In the evening it was off to the night markets for some more shopping!!! The night market was amazing, soooo many stalls and loads of nice things to buy!! We'd been saving our money for last week of thailand so we went crazy!! For tea we went to another riverside bar with a dutch girl called dorien. Was a really good girly night with lots of wine, english food and dancing!!! Had a fun tuk-tuk ride back to the hotel....
Next morning we weren't feeling ourselves lol but had to drag ourselves out of bed to pack and get ready for bamboo rafting!! Only me & ro were doing this, most people went thai cooking!! Soooo glad we chose the other option after the night before! Was a really long drive in our private songthaew to the rafting site, when we got there it was deserted! We expected it to be packed of tourists but apparently not! So we both got on this really long bamboo raft, and we had a driver man with a bamboo stick who steered us down the river! Wasn't quite what we expected, was really relaxing but there was no nice scenery or anything just polluted river water! Was quite amusing though ...thai guys seem to like splashing us and we went down a few waterfalls i wasnt sure we'd survive! It waskinda like a thai padley gorge!
That afternoonwe went for lunch and wasted time before getting the train back to bangkok! I loved the train ride, food wasn't great but vwe were prepared for that but we got our own beds and they were really comfy! Ro got top bunk (she didnt wana sleep with the bugs) and it was abit longer and mine was like a double! Was right good, slept quite well! Arrived back in bangkok about 9 in morning so took 14 hours!!
