the place people told us to steer clear of, and you could see why. The beach was covered in used condoms and dead rats and the streets were littered with rubbish,..welcome to costa del vietnam. The hotel we got was a nice one though luckily and we managed to find a place that did indians instantly making us feel more at home. We met Vinh and Sy on our walk abouts and they convinced us the way we wanted to see Vietnam was on the back of an easy rider motorbike off the tourist trail, the promised us elephant rides and sleeping in a long house with the locals and good cheap local food. WHat could we say?
On our one full day there we did a boat trip...fully expeciting it to be crap we were pleasantly surpirsed. First there were 2 other english people, a french man and 30 vietnamese on the boat which mkes for a good time! The staff were very funny and kept us entertained all day, doing a floating bar (and giving us free drinks that tasted like pinmeapple and bread! served from a big mnetal ring held up by buoys!) they did the Nha trang boy band which was hysterical they sung "whats going on" by three non blondes, very badly but they tried. They even tried to get us to do karaoke but failed as we didnt want it to rain. One of the blokes on board seemed to be the brunt of every joke poor bloke he got called fatty and Lady boy all day and was offered up to all the men for the taking after the main bloke offered himself to all the ladies! They were really funny and made the day go smoothly. We did snorkelling on the ref and saw all the fishes and the bright colours it was so pretty (bring on the great barrier reef) we now know we are 100% doing our SCUBA diving training in Thailand. We went to an aquarium as well which had some nice fish but as expected the condiditons were not great and the taks looked way too small and crowded. We saw a 6 star resort on its own privte island with a cable car from the main land...we can dream!
The next day we were leaving with our "easy riders!" so we met up with the english couple off the boat trip and headed for some food, we had a really nice seafood bbq with mussels, crab, shrimp, snapper, you name it and it was delicius!
Next day up bright and early and ready for the next 3 days of motorbiking...wish us luck!
