Due to the African bush not having wifi, we're having to write this retrospectively, but in summary it was amazing! Friday morning we flew out of Cape Town and direct to Kruger National Park to start our Safari. The flight took about 2.5 hours and then we had a 2 hour drive to get out to our lodge in the African bush, and when we finally arrived it was well worth it. Our "tent" was absolute luxury and with only 6 tents in the whole camp ie a maximum of 12 guests and 6 staff the service was fantastic. We spent our time going on game drives either around the Gwalagwala property which had giraffe, zebra, leopard, impala, kudo, waterbuck, warthog, buffalo, hyena, jackal to name a few or into the neighbouring"Big 5" area which as the name suggest had elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard. As our lodge didn't have the very dangerous animals we were also able to go on walks which meant we could get right up close to the animals. It was an amazing experience. Out of the "Big 5" we were able to see everything except the elusive leopard, but we did get to see a Cheetah so its kinda close... On the "Big 5" drives we would stop for drinks at sundown which was a little unnerving being out of the truck in lion country but all was ok. The weather was amazingly cold, freezing even. We didn't think we could get any colder than when we were shark diving but we were wrong. Sit at the back of an open top safari vehicle going a high speed in the rain and its a whole other story! Luckily for us when we arrived back to the lodge the staff were waiting with warm drinks, the fire burning, our tents closed up with the heater on and our electric blankets on warm... aahhh it was tough. So tough I really didn't want to leave, I could have quite happily stayed there. Unfortunately its probably spoilt us for the rest of the trip.
