Reluctantely we had to leave our lovely resort in Luxor and head back to Europe to continue our holiday. We flew to Cairo then had about 6 hours to kill before our flight to Zurich. Unfortunately Cairo would have to be one of the worst international airports we had ever been to. There was nothing to do and very few shops so the time passed very slowly. When we arrived in Zurich it was during their Street Parade, a dance festival, and with the Love Parade no longer on in Berlin all the young - and not so young - trance loving public flock to Zurich for this event. It was our third time in Zurich and we had never seen the place so packed. There were 4 stages set up around the harbour each with their own DJ's, light show and particular sounds. It would be hard to estimate the number of people but there would have been many many thousands. With little sleep we headed off to Lake Como the next day.
After a train trip, then another train trip and finally a bus trip we arrived in Cadenabbia on the beautiful Lake Como. Just like its pictures it was stunning. We were staying right on the lake and took a ferry out to the popular town of Bellagio. It was particularly pretty with narrow cobblestone streets too small for cars and lots of little shops and cafes. We treated ourselves to some Gelato while we wandered around.
Back in our hotel we were lucky enough to have a TV and sat down to watch some Olympics. Unfortunately being in Italy all we really got to see was coverage of the Italian team and it just wasn't the same. What we would give to have english speaking TV and Aussie coverage.
Tomorrow we go to Venice .
