We bade farewell to Pippa, and left our cosy cottage in Coverack, heading for Cheltenham. It's located in the Cotswolds, which is another region of England.
We were watching the movie, We Bought a Zoo on tv the other night, and I was wondering where the actual place was--turns out, only 90 miles from Coverack and on the way to Cheltenham! So we decided to pay it a visit.
Armed with a brand new Atlas and my phone GPS, I managed to get us there on major roads, with only a couple miles of the narrow roads with hedges that stresses Rich out so much. It was drizzling, but we didn't let that keep us from exploring the zoo.
They had quite a few animals I had never heard of before, such as the largest rodent, called a Capybara. Cute face, sort of, but definitely like a rat!! Weighs in at about 120 pounds, enough to give one nightmares!! LOL Be sure to see the picture of it.
We saw some tigers, a bear, wolves, meerkats, wallabies--who were so cute jumping around! We wandered around for about 2 1/2 hours, and then departed for our next stop. What we should've done was eat lunch there at the zoo. However, we both wanted to visit another National Trust place that was supposedly right off the freeway, with an award winning restaurant. Turned out to be 20 minutes off the freeway each way!! By the time we actually sat down to eat, it was 1:00, and when we got back on the road, close to 2:30. The food was great, but not worth the loss of time.
Traffic was awful and it was close to 5:00 pm by the time we finally arrived. We were both exhausted and couldn't find the apartment building. Another GPS glitch--it had us one block over! I finally found it, though--and we were happy to be in for the evening! I spent most of the time uploading my photos to go along with the blogs previously written, so be sure to go back and take a look. :)
