Yes, that's right, I'm cheating. I'm tired of being behind, and I'm never going to catch up if I don't do something drastic. So, here it is, something drastic: I'm doing four entries in one.

I've been sick for about a week and a half, and Barbara has been taking very good care of me. On those rare occasions that I wasn't whining, she had a little time for herself. She wanted me to report to you that over the last week and a half she’s read a whole book (464 pages), worked on Maddie’s Christmas stocking, and played 263 games of Spider Solitaire. Truly an amazing feat, given that I whine a lot.

Over the last four days, we haven't done much except try to get healthy. Barbara's been into Colonial Williamsburg, and I actually made it in once. And Barbara got sick. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start where I left off last Friday.

Saturday, June 6:

I know, the burning question here is, "Did I get to see 'Miss Congeniality'?" No. The screws don't even own the movie. Sad (not sad that they don’t own the move; it’s sad that I even know about that movie).

I felt much better, but I was still very tired. I suggested to Barbara that she go into Colonial Williamsburg by herself, because if she waited for me, she may never get a chance to see it. She was not happy about it, but she went in and scouted everything out.

By the time she got back, I was feeling better, and we made a plan to go in the next day.

Sunday, June 7:

As planned, I was feeling better (yes, that was the plan), and we went into Colonial Williamsburg. It’s a very interesting place. The town is built on the original site when Williamsburg was the capitol of the Virginia colony (around 1760). Most of the buildings are original from the time, albeit they’ve been fixed up. Other buildings, while not original, were built in the style of the time or built from architectural drawings recovered from the time. We spent the afternoon there and then came home. My legs said very nasty things to me, because I hadn’t used them for over a week, then walked about four miles in Williamsburg. I can’t repeat what they said—this is a family blog—but I tried to ignore them as best I could.

Monday, June 8 (yesterday):

So on Sunday I thought I was out of the woods. By Monday I was so far into the woods, I couldn’t even find Pooh (silly old bear). I went backwards in my recovery. And to top it all off, Barbara started complaining of a sore throat. That did it. We bundled ourselves into the car and went in search of a clinic.

We found one not far from our campground and got ourselves checked. We both were given prescriptions for antibiotics and various cold remedies. We left there and went to CVS to get the prescriptions filled then stopped for lunch at a pancake house (I counted six pancake houses in the span of a mile). We picked the closest one and had breakfast for lunch.

As we were heading home, Barbara saw a store called "Christmas Mouse", and we pulled in. It’s Christmas in June inside that store, and after spending half my retirement savings on stuff, I wished them Merry Christmas as I left. They were sorry to see us go (more likely my Visa card).

Monday was the day we were supposed to leave, so we called the KOA office and extended our stay once again. We figured we would feel better on Tuesday, and we’d be outta here!

Tuesday, June 9 (And now we’re up to today):

Barbara got no sleep last night (literally, she said one hour of sleep)--we think from one of the meds the doctor prescribed. I told her to take a nap, and I went to the office and extended (again) then went to the laundry room and did laundry (really fun!).

At this point, I have no idea when we’ll be leaving. I’m hoping to make it home by Christmas, but I make no guarantees. We might make it for Maddie’s high school graduation.
