Found the house we lived in when we were in Omaha, Nebraska. It was the first house we bought and we did all kinds of weird things to it – like painting it bright, screaming colors and putting in a corner fire place, covering up the interior window, but not bothering to board up the outside wall.
The current owners happened to be there and invited us in to see how it's changed over the last 36 years since we were there. They actually bought the house because of the fireplace, so we got a big kick out of that. It was fun telling them all the things we did and giving them some history about the place.
We went up to the University of Nebraska, Omaha and couldn’t find the building where I worked, which was the main admin building with the original clock tower. We couldn’t believe they’d tear it down, but the entire campus is sooooo changed. Lots of big, big buildings now. Almost gave up but took one last run through and found the original building hiding behind the big, new Business School. You can’t even see it from the street any more.

No.1: Random fun facts: Some of our comments:
- It took us (well, Dad) awhile to figure out that all kids in the US would have to chew gum every other day to make those stats work out correctly – which we decided could be possible
· The US with 9 billion chickens and China with 13 billion actually figures out to the US eating more chicken per capita than China. Stats can be misleading sometimes.
· And, if possums spend 80% of their lives sleeping, why don’t we call someone "You lazy possum" when they sleep late? Inquiring minds want to know…
No.2: The Long, Long Trailer. I was soooo excited when we opened it. Couldn’t wait to get into camp to watch it. What fun! And it hit home with all the things we’ve been doing, like the tons of stuff they shoved into their trailer. We probably won’t have to shop for food for the rest of the trip, we brought so much food!

belinda ... what color was the bedroom and what color were the kitchen cabinets?!? Assuming the kitchen cabinets have since been replaced, but curious anyway. :)
wjmccain The kitchen cabinets have been replaced. But they did say they first went through 4 or 5 coats of paint and found the dark brown paint on the cabinets and the florescent orange color on the walls. They did admit to wondering who could've painted those colors. Now they know! Crazy Californians. hmmm. The bedroom is purple on 3 walls and deep red/purple on one wall.
