Off Exploring
Well we've had the best day yet and it's only our second day here, so I imagine we'll have a lot more awesome days. Costa Rica has put us on a very strange schedule. I don't know when the sun comes up but when I woke up this morning at 5:45 the sun was out in full force. Since the sun rises so early and sets around 6 we've been going to bed around 8 and getting up around 6 or so. I'm a night owl so this feels weird to me, but I like making the most of the sunlight.
After breakfast we went to Mistico Hanging Bridges Park. I really wanted to go there. I'm not sure why since I'm terrified of heights and all of those bridges are up so high. Also they sway, which is really terrifying. When we crossed the first bridge it was super scary but by the last one I was actually able to look down while I was on the bridge. I'm so happy we did that, even though it was really scary at times. I'm very proud of myself for making it across the bridges. :) I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to. On the way back our driver was headed downtown so he dropped us off for no extra charge, which was awesome. He dropped us off by an ATM and we decided to test it out and we were actually able to get money from it. Our bank unfroze the accounts. Yay!! We then went to a restaurant he recommended. It was the best food we've had so far. So flavorful.
We walked around downtown La Fortuna for a while and then headed back to the hotel. After about an hour or two Kyle got restless and decided he wanted to go back downtown so off we went. We walked around for a little over an hour. He tried some fast food (fried chicken) and we found a bakery with lots of locals waiting in line. We got some treats but I haven't tried them yet.
We really really love La Fortuna. I love that it's pretty small and very walkable but it's also bustling. Both times we went downtown there are so many people walking around and hanging out. We love it. We still have one more day here. We'll be very sad to leave La Fortuna. Tomorrow we're headed to Tabacon hot springs. It's our major splurge day and we'll be getting a massage there. It will be perfect after the two days of hiking.
