Watch out world the Barkers are coming!
Hey everyone, Happy valantines day!!
They don't really go in for it over here, just another crazy european thing as far as they are concerned, I say fair enough but any excuse for romance is good in my book. Dave and I are going out for a cheap and chearful Italain 5 mins from the house, it will be good to spend some time just the two of us, as we are with other people all the time at the mo. Not that that is a problem as they are all great and we are meeting more and more people all the time.
Last weekend it was my birthday and we went out for a lovely meal with some friends then onto Chapel street (where else, it is the place to be in Melbourne!), and I was given a beautiful ring by my wonderful husband. As Dave mentioned we both have jobs now and yes he is earing more money which is lovely for me especially as I am working 9-3 mon-fri, how easy is my life!! I will be working a lot more when the common wealth games starts though. I spoke to Zoe the other day, she rang me out of the blue from Sydney, (a very close old school friend of mine) and she might be coming down on the opening weekend because her bloke's brother's band is playing. It would be great to see them sooner that expected. If not we shall definately see them in Sydney. This weekend we met up with an Irish couple who we met in Rio all those months ago, who are on a similar trip to us. Strange to see someone you met travelling and have so much to alk about, just like old friends, we shall definatelty be seeing a lot of people again. On fri night we saw a guy from Ireland who we had met 3 years previous in Byron bay, I went and asked him if he was the same chap and he was so we sat and chated for a while, very small world isn't it!?
On Saturday Dave and me went to see the Globe Skateboarding championships in the tennis stadium. It was an excellent day out, never thought it would be so exciting and hart racing. They were excellent, expecially the small kids. A 14 year old 'Ryan Sheckler' won and the runner up was an 11 year old with really long dreads, just the cutest kid ever. The older ones had style but not the passion. We did feel rather old though as 90% of the crowd were under 18. Dave was also rather annoyed as the skate fashion has changed some what to really tight jeans, and I mean really tight! converse shoes and the simple style t-shirt which was going to be his breakthrough. I am sure there will still be a market though, Yella is still going to happen.
This friday we are moving to our cockney mates house on the other side of the city, which will be much more fun than with the 'slabs!' and so much cheaper. Then we can concentrate on buying a car and start travelling on the weekends to Adelade, Bells beach, Ocean road, etc.
Don't think there is much more to report, other than sending you lots of love valantines day
Ellen and Dave
