Watch out world the Barkers are coming!
Hey there everyone.
Long time no write for me, so now I have to pay my dues. First of all we start on a sad note and have to say that my Granddad passed away last week. He was a fantastic man and everyone will miss his presence. We are both thinking of everyone who is at home. We are carrying on because I can't get home, and the trip is now dedicated to Ken's memory as he helped as to get here in the first place. Rest in peace mate.
Okay on a happier note, we have to fill you in on our recent travels. We arrived in Byron having realized that our money was dangerously low and started to work out a budget, so obviously we got very drunk with a group of eighteen year olds. Safe to say El passed out on the beach and I Was sick before bed, then a little in the bed and then some more in the bathroom! Can't keep up with these bloody kids! After this little incident we took it very easy and got to bed very early most nights. Byron really didn't kick off for us this time and it seems to have lost a little of its charm. So we left Byron and set off for the gold coast and Queensland.
We stopped off at the "Wet N Wild" waterpark and went down some wicked slides, but it was full of kids, as it was a public holiday, and full of people with one set of Grandparents, if you know what I mean??? So we left there and went to some weird little backwater hick town (Jacobs well) and stayed there for the night. I tried to shower in the morning and the water got cut off just after I lathered up!!! Rubbish. Anyway we left there sharpish, and headed for Noosa heads, which was brilliant. I surfed (thanks el x) and el sunbathed, we had a lovely meal one night, and met some cool peeps, Stu and Lisa. Stu is 33 and never has to work again cos he sold a really good business, so now he just plays on his jetski and travels around with his van full of toys. We went out with him to sample Noosa night life, it was so good El fell asleep in the club and we decided to call it a night! The next day we met Lisa, who wanted to go to a market and we had nothing better to do so we went along too. It was amazing, the whole town pretty much relies on this market, everyone was so friendly and the stuff for sale was really cool and cheap. Lisa also found a band that she had missed in Byron, and asked them where they were playing that night, they said it was a festival up the road, so we all decided to skip off there. We arrived just before sunset and it was a tiny little place with food and jewellery stores around the sides, a small stage and loads and loads of blessed out hippies. It was funny as, some of the bands were really weird and there was even an aboriginal demonstration. We left because it never really kicked off and we were all yawning, we stayed in the field behind the site and headed for Hervey Bay, to do our Fraser island tour.
We met our group for Fraser that evening and everyone seemed pretty cool, we went shopping for food and booze, and ended up spending $273 on food, and about $150 on booze. When we got back to the hostel every other group had spent about $100 on food and less on booze...whoops. It all turned out ok though cos we had the perfect amount of food, even though we gorged our selves a little!
I can't fit any of our adventures in now cos my time is running out, but we had the best time and would like to say thanks to Rob, Polly, Number 2, Papa Joe, Marica, Lord Farqua, Peer, Marianne and Ellen, for being such a wicked group, you made the trip all the better. See you soon guys, will put up our stories soon.
