8/9/16 A long day's driving today as we set off for Chilliwack, heading south in Highway 1, the Transcanadian highway. Not much to say except that the sun shine, the mountain scenery was spectacular and we stopped for a break on the way and saw an amazing little bird called a Water Ousel or American Dipper. Today started well, and finished even better! For a start, we woke not to the sound of rain pattering into the roof, but to the sound of the river rushing past, a couple of metres from our open van windows. The day improved further with hot tea and freshly cooked banana pancakes a la Chris, and we packed up and headed west on Highway 1 towards Glacier National Park. Today started in a gloomy fashion, such that it has since been referred to as 'misery morning'. It's never a good feeling to lie in a tent listening to the rain falling outside, and this rain was heavy and persistent and we had had a cold night. The bench bench and fire pit where we had so much fun last night, were sitting in puddles and everything was soaked.
