Nairobi is our base for the next 2 weeks. We are hoping to go to the beach, and do a safari - not sure which game park though.
However, while we are here, we want to see as much of James' family as possible - namely Granny Dot!
We had 3 brilliant days in Athi River with Caroline le Poer Trench (unfortunately Tim was in the Mara) and her chickens! We spent the days walking round the plains, on our own mini safaris, and the evenings sat around a camp fire with animal and bird books ticking off the wildlife we had seen that day. Amoung many others were: African Fish Eagle, Giraffe, Congoni, Monkey, Mongoose...
On Sunday we went to meet all the family (Brian, Nick, Josh, Sam and of course Granny Dot) in the exclusive Muthaiga Club. On the way we were very excited to be picking Granny Dot up from her house. It was lovely to see everyone on their home turf. This definitely does not count as backpacking!
I lost our camera, so we spent the following day being ferried to and from police stations, by Sarah, Karen, and Jo! We also realised we left Granny Dot's Whiskey on the plane! And then left our passports and plane tickets in the boot of Sarah's car! MUPPETS!
Whilst staying at Sarah's we visited the Elephant orphanage - cool to see Ellies playing football!
Jo, Emma William and Gilly then took us to train station to get ourselves down to Mombassa, for a 5 day holiday on the beach at Tiwi
