Hiya!!!
Just got back from our 2 night safari which was amazing! We saw 4 of 'the big 5' but the guides don't like talking about the 'big 5' as it's obviously just a commercialized thing. Anyway we saw: Lion, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino (that's the 4) but also saw giraffe, zebra, hippo, crocodile, wilderbeast, warthog, monkey, and on our way out of the park this morning, we were so lucky to see 2 cheetas. They were so close to us, lying in the road that we had to slowly drive around them!! That was fantastic.
The weather is now much better and was really hot yesterday afternoon on safari. The company we went with have a little camp, inside Kruger park, with small tents. The log fire was burning all night and were completely spoilt with 3 excellent meals a day.
Laura's birthday went like this:
4.45 Wake up
5.15 Left Funky Monkeys
6.00 Arrived at Kruger Park
6.15 - 7.15 Short safari drive in open vehicle.
7.30 Breakfast
8.00 Back on jeep for safari
1.15 Lunch in one of the many picnic sites overlooking a waterhole with hippos and elephants.
2.00 Back on jeep for safari.
6.00 arrive back at camp for a few glasses (bottles) of wine and Laura opened her cards and presents
7.00 Dinner (Impala stew?which was actually lovely!)
8.00 A random group of Italians who were staying in the same camp as us sang Happy Birthday to Laura in Italian!!
Sometime after that, Bed.
LAURA WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SENT HER CARDS, TEXTS AND PRESENTS?..(AND, yes she did cry at a couple of them!)
Anyway, tomorrow we are back on the Baz Bus and off to Swaziland which is supposed to be very beautiful so today we are gonna chill out round the pool and catch some sun. We will upload all of our photos (well not all of them!) when the cameras have finished charging.
Hope you are all ok.
Be in touch soon,
Jo and Laura (who is now 27!)
