A Backpack... a few Beers and a few Buddies...
First stop in Peru was across lake Titicaca in the town of Puno. Only a very short stop there of one day to visit the floating islands. The Peruvian side of the lake is smaller and also much shallower than in Bolivia, sometimes just 10m deep.
Interesting make up of a few hundred families that literally live on floating islands made up of compressed mud, hay and other materials! More of a tourist destination now but the communities do still live and work on the islands.
Spending the morning there we were shown the traditional living, working and socialising done on the islands, getting a trip on one of the traditional 'dragon boats' as well!
Another quick move on from Puno and onto Arequipa, into mainland Peru!
