Oh no the time has come for us to leave this amazing city and head home.

London is a great place to visit. There is so much to see and do so much history and so many great pubs. Getting around is easy with the underground and trains but we still managed over the last few days to walk miles.

We played tourists and had to squeeze as much into a couple of days as possible. A visit to Greenwich and the obligatory photo on the meridian line. Sadly the time ball was not working that day but so many people stood waiting for it to move and what's more paid £10 to watch it not move. Perhaps they were in a time warp. A tour of the Cutty Sark which has been restored and become an interaction in history for kids and adults too. Covent garden entertained us with street performers which we watched from the "Punch and Judy" pub. Walking was a trick I think on LIndsay 's part as it meant we found a hundred pubs on the way which all needed visiting. I have tried so many different beers with the funniest names no wonder we can't recreate this at home. Shopping was uneventful apart from new glasses and sore feet.

Our highlight was catching up with our dear friend Nan who was lindsays boss 35 years ago and we haven't seen for 13 years. Nan caught the train from Lake District a 3 hour trip each way to spend the day with us. It was so good to see her fit and healthy and full of life as always. Thanks Nan for making the trip to see us we so loved catching up.

And out of the blue on the way home we bumped into Mike and Diane Powell from the Mount who came from Paris for the night! This of course meant back to the pub for a catch up and a beer!

Might squeeze in a couple more attractions today before we fly out at 22.15 tonight and head back to the cold.

Update: Managed to visit the Tower Bridge, Tower of London and see the beautiful Crown jewels before a stop at Borough street market for lunch. Caught our last tube to Heathrow now for the long wait and long flight. See you all soon
