Today once again we rose early and got on the road about 6:20am. We took a couple of petrol and toilet stops and made it to Mataranka before lunch. On the way we passed a few herds of cattle and lots of road kill including wallabies, birds and cattle. We set up camp at the caravan park then after grabbing some lunch trekked down the road to the Bitter Springs hot springs where we donned our flippers, mask and snorkels and explored the crystal clear waters of the creek. The water was a perfect temperature to stay in for a long time and the outside temperature was 30 degrees which is awesome. After a swim we chilled out at the camp for a while, listening to music and playing cards, then we had showers and drove into 'town' to get some dinner. The only restaurant was fully booked so we found ourselves in the pub which was very 'authentic outback australian' with rowdy aboriginals yelling out the front and roller shutters to keep the drunks out. We ordered our meals which were promptly prepared by the servo next door and had an entertaining time listening to the ruckus out front. When we had finished eating and decided to leave, the publican had to unlock the pub door so we could get out, an 8:30 lockout! We headed back to camp and called it a night.
