The weather in Perth once again played games just like it does in Melbourne. We decided to head to Fremantle to enjoy the cool Freo atmosphere, it's marina cafe scene, historic buildings and museums.
Visited the maritime museum and learnt about the common diseases and the rudimentary and often crude medicine that was practised aboard the immigrant ships. Discovered that one night with Venus could lead to a lifetime with mercury, as many ship hands contracted venereal disease snd suffered lead poisoning. You wouldn't want to be giving birth, needing an amputation or simply a tooth pulled in those times on those ships.
We also visited the Shipwreck Museum, where again history comes to life and we got to see part of the ship Batavia and many of the valuable relics found on board.
While the others visited the Round House (which I've already seen) I did a supermarket shop as I needed some things for tonight's dinner.
We ate fish and chips at the port as we sat and watched the large ships and were annoyed by pesky seagulls.
Home for dinner and more rummy tiles until we were too tired to continue.
Night night xx
