So much to see today but we started with a visit to one of three fire tower look out trees that you can climb. Gadi chose to climb the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree, the tallest of the climbing trees, at 75 metres high. I was s*** scared just watching from the ground as he climbed confidently to the top, hand over hand up 165 pegs, past several rest platforms, straight to the top. I don't think I dared to breathe while I was watching and snapping away with my camera. I was glad that there were several other people climbing at the same time. However, the risk was real as there was no cage to protect climbers, so you climb at your own risk. I was very glad when he reached the ground safely before the rain set in, making climbing up too slippery.
After this excitement we drove to see the town of Pemberton, where we ate lunch at a local bakery before setting off to view one of the other climbing trees called the Diamond Tree. This time Gadi didn't climb as the tree was wet from rain and slippery.
We then continued to see the town of Manjimup where we stopped and bought some stuff for the caravan in the Reject Shop before heading back to our campsite and another night by the indoor coonara heater where we cooked up a hearty dinner of lentil and veggie soup and pan fried chicken (much appreciated on this cold night) in the little communal camp kitchen where we enjoyed chatting to the other travellers once again.
Amazing how tired you get driving around, sightseeing and spending time in the great outdoors. Time to head inside, chill out and hop into bed.
Good night and sweet dreams xx
