Our final taste of 5 star luxury. We used our last points for southeast Asia in kuala lumpur. In case you did not know we worked for a hotel company were we acquired points for the overtime we worked. With these points we could book hotels all over the world. We decided to use them especially for our time in Asia. This way we stayed 6 nights in Bangkok, 3 nights in chiang rai, 2 nights in langkawi and 4 nights in kuala lumpur. All free of charge.
From the moment our bus arrived in KL it was raining. We got introduced to the rain season just as we drove in to the old bus station. It was an endless grey sky as we've seen so many times in Ireland. Only this time the rain was pouring down a lot faster and within seconds we were totally soaked. The rain alone wasn't as scary as the thunder that tortured the tallest buildings. We checked in our room at the tenth floor and could enjoy the last bit of the monsoon from our Window. From then on it rained every night and it was hot and clammy during the day.
Malaysia is Islamic and the people wear traditional Islamic clothing. More people with burka's and headscarves then in Holland that was for sure. Out of the 10 people were 5 Muslim in traditional clothing, 3 Indian in traditional clothing and 2 Chinese in hip clothing. So you can imagine that lizet drew a lot of stares from everyone when she wore her shorts. We did not know if it was provoking or not since the Chinese girls sometimes looked like comic figures. With fake lenses high heels and extreme tight shorts showing not the least bit of meat on their bum. Indians in general couldn't be bothered the least what we were wearing or doing. We noticed in 3 different countries and in all countries they didn't give..... Well they were just reluctant. We prefer their food over Thai food though.
Kuala lumpur beautiful city, a feast for the eyes, where old and new are integrated in a meltpot of different cultures and traditions. Not that many temples and religious sites as Bangkok. On the other hand there are even more shopping malls. We've seen the biggest one of our lives, it had 14 floors with venues and shops and on top of that it had its own theme park. With one big ass rollercoaster that would make walibi jealous. Berjaya times square even the name sounds fancy. The Petronas towers were a real pearl and you could see them everywhere you were in KL. One day we went to see the batu caves which were impressive as well. It is an old religious Hindu site were Hindus go to pray. It was the only temple we visited in our 3 day stay over.
Basically Kl was a relaxed citytrip after 3 weeks of Thailand government bus. We did nothing to fancy but just took our time to move around and it was nice for a change. Our next stop is little India in Singapore. The food has to be good let's see how the people are!
