Even though this picture doesn't show it properly, the view was absolutely breathtaking when Morten took me to a rooftop restaurant in a skyskraper for a surprise dinner date ... well planned, Mister! When I could finally take my eyes off the skyline and focus on the food, that turned out to be delicious as well - plus: First glass (or should I say bottle?) of wine in 6 weeks. Nothing says balmy summer night as a cold French Rosé :)

No visit to Bangkok is complete without the ultimate entertainment (no, not what you think!): Thai Boxing! A combat sport in which pretty much anything goes... also bleeding stupid 'farangs' like us for 1000 baht and more per ticket. Luckily Morten found the one place where you can witness some proper fights for free once a week - yay! Morten is in bed with a cold (no wonder, they have been trying to deep-freeze us ever since we arrived here, with every cab, mall, cinema or shop being colder than the last), so I got bored after my morning swim and breakfast and wandered the surrounding streets. Main impressions: hookers, hookers, hookers, massage parlors (also normal ones!), every plastic and fake item you would ever want to buy, a million street stalls seemingly all selling soup - and finally...

And - last but not least - the 50s style restaurant, with an extensive list of both Thai and old-school Western dishes - I very much enjoyed my Filet Mignon yesterday, made after an authentic recipe from decades ago :)

Lobby, coming back from the pool area - meet one of the hotel ca. 30 cats... the staff never tires of playing with them with a piece of string. Fun.
