10.00 a.m., next day We should have arrived two hours ago... some minutes ago, a train employee came through to announce very matter of factly: 'Chian Mai - two hours.' Ok then. Just happy we didn't have our bunks built back into seats yet. Nothing wrong with a little nap on your average 18-hour-train ride, after a most horrible breakfast. Only plus: The toilets are Western style and still surprisingly clean. Man muss die Feste feiern, wie sie fallen... oder ...

And now it's finally 'Bye bye Bangkok, off to new adventures'! 17.30 We just got onboard the night train that will take us up north at 18.10 and is scheduled to arrive in Chiang Mai at 8.15 tomorrow morning. Our first 14-hour sleeper train ride in Thailand - exciting! Seems like the bunk beds (with curtains for privacy) will be comfy enough... they will be set up by the train staff later tonight. Off we go!
