Another day in paradise
We awoke to another beautiful day; just lifting our heads to look out at the clear blue sky and white sand. Little effort was needed to get up and out.
Our caravanning neighbours had offered to let us use their kayaks so, taking them up on the offer, we spent a very happy morning paddling around the bay looking at the coral and fish. One of them had a perspex viewing window in the bottom so this was great for seeing the coral and fish more clearly. We took it in turns to view the reef this way. After a morning kayaking our arms started to ache even allowing for just drifting with the tide a lot.
Early in the afternoon we viewed the photos taken by Cheryl the day before with an underwater camera and decided to buy the CD with all of them on for a very modest price. We tried for the originals but understand the paparazzi already have them !! Some great photos and even some of both of us.
Then it was back to the arduous task of sitting on the beach or lazing in the water to cool off. We had sightings of more snappers and speckled rays right at the waters edge. At one stage they were swimming around our feet.
Back on dry land, we saw a Goona in the bushes just near our seats. A Goona is a lizard about three feet long. We had seen one twice this length on the road in NSW. Having decided to reluctantly drag ourselves away from the beach and water we walked to the lookout on the headland for an impressive view of the bay and beaches to the south. Just as we got back to the van we saw a kangaroo just the in bushes by the beach in front of our campervan. While he sat looking at us the necessary photos were taken.
To finish the day we had a barbecued and an early night as we plan to set off early in the morning.
