Bargara to Hervey Bay.
First stop of the day is the Bundaberg rum distillery for a tour. The rum is made from molasses, a by product from the sugar cane mill next door. Fascinating tour explaining the process from raw molasses to a bottle of rum.
Naturally, the tour concluded with a tasting of two different blends of rum for each of us. Our favourite was a rum liquor only available from the distillery shop. A couple of bottles were purchased.
Afternoon drive then to Hervey Bay and check into our B&B which was a real find. We took a brief drive around to look at the the bay which in total is 40 km long, very pretty and relatively unspoilt.
We decided to take up the opportunity of an evening meal in the B&B, what a good choice. Rocco, the husband, is an ex hotel/restaurant chef and the quality of the food and presentation more than reflected this. A superb dinner. Time to relax as an early start tomorrow.
