The walkabout has begun, or is it the floatabout in the WhitSundays ?
Up early to finish packing as taxi coming around 08.45. In fact it is here slightly early at 08.40 and we have checked in and gone through security by 09.10. Impressive.
Virgin flight left Sydney on time, arriving into Brisbane early. Time for lunch before the flight to Proserpine for Airlie Beach. Some good views to the coast on both flights. Unfortunately, we did seem to be taking a long time to land after the pilot said we were about to. Yes, we were circulating due to a heavy rain storm. Eventually we landed and pulled up to the porta cabin acting as the Terminal. No one really wanted to get off the plane; no such luxuries as air bridges here, just steps leading into the torrential rain so you had to run the two hundred yards to the terminal, soaked but at least the rain was warm.
Met the shuttle driver and the suitcases. Another hundred yards in the rain to the bus. Off to Airlie.
The shuttle driver dropped us at the tour office to get our vouchers for the boat and said she would return and take us to our hotel. Really appreciated her kindness as it was still raining. Checked into the hotel and despite not having eaten since lunchtime decided to stay put as rain was really heavy with strong winds. Sadly the hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday.
We learnt Proserpine had 93mm of rain Sunday.
Time for sleep.
