I keep loosing track of the days. Without having a job to go to everyday becomes the weekend. So it kinda passes by and I forget what day it is let alone what date. My concept of time is a little altered. I've been here now officially for two months. Experiencing all the joys of minus temperatures. My cold has gone from bacterial to viral, which is not treatable with antibiotics. Just resting, paracetamol and it might take up to a few weeks to get better. Some of the pipes in the house are frozen. Yes I mean the water literally stopped going through because it's too cold and iced up. Then probably the worst thing of all, my frozen berry cheesecake won't defrost enough for me to cut a piece to eat. But exploring the frozen world is still pretty fun. Walking through snow is like really cold sand. It squishes under your shoes, if you have snow boots on. Otherwise in normal shoes its wet but freezing and extremely slippery. Icicles cover everything & make things sparkle in the sun. Don't lick anything metal, so I've been told. Even touching it with your bare hands can be dangerous. I've now got a pet snowman, he's name is Fredrick. Not sure how long snowmen usually live but it's day two so far. Wish i had different things to dress him up in each day. Oh and then there's driving in the snow. The excitement of not if but when exactly you'll loose traction and slide across the road. Everyone goes very slowly and it's like a drift comp at very low speeds. Sledging is super fun too. Not the cricket type but the toboggan type, although equally as fun. We went down to Heaton Park with some plastic sledges. Today I went walking around the lake. People were feeding the ducks and swans. I can't believe they still go in the water, well the little patches of water that aren't frozen. There are miniature ponies down in the park too. Then when I was heading back I seen a pair of bunny rabbits in the snow. Digging through to the grass underneath. Sometimes I stop myself to think about where I am and what I am doing. Like sure all I did today was go for a walk in a Park. But that Park is on the other side of the world, covered in snow and who else gets to see this. Sure the people that live here, but this is their everyday. To me it's completely different to home. It's hard to see the forest for the trees, until you realize how lucky you are to see in the first place. Think about it. I can walk, I can see, I am young & healthy (enough), I can work to earn money, I can travel & I can take all this experience in. Happiness is realizing the many little pleasure in life and appreciating them, now matter where you are or what your doing.
