A nice slow moving day... Mass in the morning... No idea what the homily was about, followed by an afternoon shopping and dinner in the evening. Santiago is a lovely city, it feels quite safe and is really clean.

We walked over to the base of St Christopher's hill/mountain to catch the funicular to the top to see the statue of Mary that keeps watch over Santiago but it wasn't going to open til 1pm so we walked. We met a lovely guy in the piety-type stall, some sydney world youth day pilgrims had left him a few souvenirs so he was very friendly and positive to Australians. So a whole day down in Santiago - a quick city tour with our new Colombian friend Miguel who has lived in New York since he was 8 years old. Good to get an overview but needs more exploration time. We then had lunch at a restaurant next to the fish market... Not a lot of OH&S at the market... Then to a winery on a short and slightly dodgy tour. Yesterday's flight felt like the longest out of all of them. No work, no tv screens and waiting to meet Matt. So when I finally arrived (delayed) in Santiago I couldn't wait to see him. I saw a long line at immigration and half way through a tall blond head towered above the rest... Yeah! He was about a foot taller than most in the line. So now we are settled into Santiago and for me this is the nicest hotel I've seen... Bearing in mind that I have been sleeping ...
