An update on the preparations
Atlantis shines and is ready for the next trip, I am only waiting for a diver to clean the hulls. Maybe I will have mussels for lunch today.
Mauro arrives tomorrow night and we plan to sail from Aratu (our current location) to Salvador the next morning. it will be a short 15NM sail, an opportunity to test the new rudders and get our sea legs back.
In Salvador we will do the immigration formalities and introduce the flight-plan to the Capitania. Atlantis will be provisioned for a 3 week voyage and an extra gas bottle will be filled. We have a bit more than 300L of diesel on board.....just in case.
We intend leaving Salvador on the 8th for Jacare, which is located near Jao Pessoa, the most Easterly point of South America. Expected travel time will be 5 to 6 days for a distance of 500NM. A rather conservative estimation.
The weather seems consistent with mostly E - SE winds between 5 and 15kts....it should be a smooth sail, at some points maybe not enough wind, but we planned a course 50NM off shore where we could expect a bit more wind....and less Brazilian fishing boats without navigation lights. We will have a little current pushing us North, which will certainly help. Rain is expected all along the coast, but the temperatures are between 25c and 33c, with seawater temperature around 28c. there is always some sun in Brazil.....so we are happy.

Marc Thank you for all your nice messages. We will keep you posted about life on board of Atlantis, some of the blogs will come with a delay as we don't have an Internet connection off shore.
Fabiana Koch Great Marc. Wish you and Mauro good and save winds! Keep in touch.
