2 minibuses, 1 coach, 1 truck, 2 ferries and 24 long hours later, the real meaning of travelling was revealed to us. I've probably managed around 2-3 hours sleep in total. Everything was uncomfortable and for 11 hours on a coach there was a cockroach sat next to me.
I guess I could moan and detail the goings on for the journey, explain how Thailand has no sense of time/'Thaim' get it? I could tell you the number of stickers I have on me, for throughout the journey we continuously stopped, exchanging receipts for a different 1 and adding another sticker to my dress. It was all very pointless. But anyway, I'll probably bore you to death so instead I have listed all the clumsy things Ben had done recently sine 'Noodlegate' on the train to Hong Kong:
- left the travel wash for clothes in Bangkok
- cut his foot open when jumping off the bamboo raft
- nearly tipped his plate of food off a table, causing a loud bang
- fallen off a pavement
- left his headphones in some shorts pockets that went to a laundrette so they didn't come back
- broke my toothbrush
- left his bag in a restaurant only for a waitress to come running after us
- asked me if I could see the thunder. It wasn't even lightening, it was a light!
- nearly got run over. I had to scream at him to stop him walking any further into the road
- walked into a road sign hanging off a lamppost. If it didn't look like he'd banged his head badly, it would have been a lot funnier!
I try my best to look after him, but it's a full time job and I quit my job for a rest! Anyway, I'd be very bored without him!
Koh Lanta seems pretty perfect. We were upgraded to a gorgeous boutique villa by our very friendly hosts. Pool, 5 minutes from a quiet, stunning beach. Gorgeous starry nights (not seen stars in weeks!) This is the kind of place I pictured when we were planning our trip and the kind of place I won't forget either. 3 nights here will be a wonderful break and I've almost forgotten what we had to endure to get here.
