If I told you that it took us 1 bus to a nearby town from the jungle, where I only managed 1 hours sleep before our 3am train which took 7 hours, then another 3 buses, a 40 minute speedboat and then a 2 minute taxi boat to reach the smaller of the two Perhentian islands, you'd think we were mad (or skint, but doing it this way saved us nearly £30!) It took around 5 hours to reach the Cameron Highlands, including 50km of the van continuously weaving left then right the left then right every 20m through the hills. I forgot to mention that on the night before my birthday I made an impulsive decision to eat a fried cricket. Ben was having none of it! It was a big cricket! I ate over half of it in one bite but it was disgusting. It was crunchy and tasted like cardboard or something. Yuk.
