Yesterday we went to have a wander round the French Concession (posh bit) and to the Bazaar shopping market. There was also a famous tea shop that we saw which is above water and the bridge to get to it is really zig zagged as apparently evil spirits can't turn corners. Later on we went back to the Bund to see the Pudong skyscrapers all lit up again as I didn't have my camera last time. It was pleasant.
Today we have checked out and are lazing around in the garden and on the sofas before we have to go for our train to Hong Kong. I'm not looking forward to:
1. An 18 hour train journey
2. The hard sleeper carriage we're in (we've been in first class so far as these have sold out in previous journeys). We will now be in a doorless cabin with 4 other people instead of only 2. I hope they don't smoke or have annoying habits. The soft sleepers we've been in so far with 2 other people have been claustrophobic enough, so I'm dreading this one, and for so long! We have the added trouble of having to take food for the evening and the morning as we don't arrive in HK til after midday so that means more hassle
3. Our next hostel. After the treat that this hostel was-brand new, clean, comfy beds, nice bar area, ensuite, garden; the hostels in HK are at least 4 times the price so we've had to downgrade to being in a dorm on HK Island. We are sharing with 2 other people, so at least that isn't a lot but missing out on privacy and getting used to living with other people may be a challenge. For 4 nights!!
