Hello from Shanghai! Not much to report from the last couple of days. Shanghai is pretty spectacular with the skyline by the riverside and our hostel is amazing! It's a shame we're only staying here for 3 nights. Today we went to the People's Square and Park, The Bund and Pudong. It was a lot of walking. We mainly entertained ourselves by taking pictures of each other with a skyscraper behind, making it look like we had hats on! The simple things...
They do really good dumplings here and a lady down the road does this dough thing with a pork meatball inside for about 11p! It's amazing. The other nice food/drink thing today was an ice cream soda, good times reminding me of when I was younger! Everything else is well expensive though and Hong Kong is a lot worse, especially for accommodation so we have shortened our stay in both places and moved our flight to Bangkok forward.
There is a mental market down the road, there were sharks, eels, lots of live fish flopping about in shallow water, live ducks just sat there (I didn't have much hope for them) frogs hopping around, terrapins in containers, everything! Speaking of sharks, one of the main department stores instead of having a display of clothes in the window just have a massive tank in the window with sharks and big turtles in.
China is starting to grate on me a little. Maybe I'm just ready for a change and it has eaten into our budget more than we may have planned for which is annoying, plus some of the habits and the food situation haven't helped. I'm looking forward to being on a beach in Thailand by next week (plus it's not as hot here and I was just getting somewhere with my tan!!)
