This is the view from the Sky Tower over Auckland. Stayed in YHA International that happend to be at the top of an incredibly steep hill. It was Sunday when we arrived. Didn't want to be there as it meant our time was nearly over. Feeling a bit down, we came across the cinema complex which had a Gold Star viewing option. Decided to watch Love and Other Drugs, gold star style. Couldn't help thinking how Sam would have loved this. You can have a drink before the film in the gold star lounge and order food if you wish. In the cinema there is seating only for about 40 people but in luxury reclining leather seats. There is a button where you can call a waiter to bring you drinks or order a meal. This is definitely the way to watch a film, and surprisingly we didn't fall asleep either.
10th January. Our last full day. Had a run in the morning, managing to finish it by 3 ascends on our incredibly steep hill by the hostel!!
Couldn't leave NZ without visiting the chic area of Parnell. Caught a bus. They are very proud of the Parnell name and use it everywhere. Katie was in her element taking loads of photo's. Had an amazing hot chocolate and carrot cake in the Chocolate Boutique. Got back to city centre for our final meal in the revolving restaurant at the top of the Sky Tower, which honoured us with a beatiful sunset.
11th January. Got to airport early as Katie flying home 10am. My flight to Fiji not until 1pm. I couldn't get into departure lounge because my flight was that much later. It was incredibly hard for me to be in the same building as Katie yet not be with her. Quite heartrenching to say goodbye. We had enjoyed an amazing and memorable 3 weeks together.
I will never forget, the mudbath at Rotorua; hilarious skyswing; katie luging (everso slowly); Christmas eve out on the town at Taupo; Christmas dinner at the Urban Retreat; sunbathing Christmas day; boxing day at the beach; sunrise at Gisborne; horse treking through stunning scenery; driving down south New Years day with NZ all to ourselves; the rain; the waterfalls; the glacier trek ordeal; skydiving, bungying; surfing;running; skytower.
THANK YOU KATIE FOR AN AMAZING TIME x
