Hi all,
Yesterday we decided to brave the streetsof Bangkok, after breakfast we hit khoa san rd. You will see from our photos (once posted) how busy a place this is. As soon as we left the comfort of our hotel we were mobbed by tuk-tuk (google it) drivers from all angles asking if we wanted to go on "free" tours of Bangkok to see the Grand palace, thai boxing and shopping centres. We politly declined their offers as suspisions of a scam were confirmed with our hotel.
Upon leaving Khao san rd we found ourselves in a totally different Bangkok, totally uncomercialised but friendly all the same, no English signs or speakers. We walked for a few miles through busy market places selling Buddist statues, insense and candles, We squeezed through people at a busy theives market who were busy dismantling and re-assembling tv's and car stereos.
After a few hours thanks to my (dan) navigational skills we found ourselves well and truly lost, with no sign of any tourists or translated street signs we decided to pick a directiuon and walk in it! .............. it was the wrong direction.
We hit the flower market in China town totally exhausted ourwater was gone and we were close to passing out, when, to our rescue a tuk-tuk driver appeared and took us back to our hotel.
There is nothing of much importance to add for today as we spent 21 hours in bed sleeping of the fatigue. We have now booked a tour guide for the next two days who will take us to tiger temple, the Grand palace and the floating market. On Wednesday we are going to see a Mai Thai fight at the Stadium and a trip to the zoo. All in an air conditioned taxi thank god!!!!!
Will let you all know how we got on as soon as possible.
p.s sorry about the drama
love you all Dan and Hayz xx
