Hi everyone,
We are gutted, we had 74 photos and during uploading managed to lose 50 into thin air! so you dont have the zoo, war museum, tiger temple, mansion, and wild monitor lizzards. b*****. sorry guys but we going back to Bangkok twice more before we leave so might visit the zoo again coz we missed the giant panda anyway, which we've never seen before. you wouldnt wana see the tiger temple anyway. sorry you will miss the hippo uncle.
So...we are now in Ayutthaya (1.5 hours north of Bangkok by train (cost 25p each for ticket and much more comfy than Great Western!). Its gorgeous here, more relaxed, friendly people and lots of temples and ruins including the biggest bronze buddah in Thailand (they mean big!). We have photos but we're too afraid to post them up yet for fear of losing them again, will do when find more reliable internet connection. This used to be the capital but burmese brought it down so many years ago. We decided not to spend the money on a tour guide as its only a small place so we walked in the heat, despite many a pesky tuk tuk driver trying to pick us up on the way for 200 baht. we walked miles but it was worth it.
The picture for this blog is a statue of Buddah within the Wat (temple) Mahathat, that has been enveloped within tree roots now and the head is all that's visible. We also saw elephants today!!!! they were giving rides like we have pony rides in England so didn't have one. We are waiting for a more necessary opportunity in a jungle some where. They were very pretty tho.
When we post the photos up you will also see our hotel from last night...wow! we had our own suite with balcony terrace and the biggest bed i've ever seen! thats what 700 baht (just over 5 pounds) gets you over here apparently. we soaked it up and over ordered on food too, and today we are 'slumming it' for only 350 baht for a room with a fan, no air con but thats also gorgeous!
I have discovered spring rolls and fried rice with veg for every meal! it sounds boring but its like no rice and rolls i ever had before. Gonna become veggie over here because a. its soooo easy and much nicer and b. the meat looks dodgy anyway. i nearly fell off my chair this morning when Dan ate the lettuce of his plate at breakfast! even i wouldnt eat lettuce for breaky. so proud. :)
We are going on a night tour in a tuk tuk later to see the temples all lit up colourfully, so should have some good photos to show you...fingers crossed! will try and upload them tomorrow but there wont be a blog entry for 2 days now. Moving north again tomorrow to Lopburi to see some resident mischevious monkeys!
bye for now...xxxxx
P.S. Parents can you leave a message on the blog site, we are worried sick!!! :) oh and hi shero possum we still love you xxxx
