Our SE Asia Tour 2013
Got up late. Scott Market closed on Mondays so no chance for any last minute shopping. Quick turn around the city's Muslim quarter before the heat drove us back to the sanctuary of the hotel. Spent the day in the opulent air conditioned lobby with free wifi before our transfer to the airport at 4 pm. The plane was late arriving at Yangon so we didn't take off until 8 pm, an hour late. Arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi was interesting! It is the only airport where it is not clear where you have to go and we actually had to ask "How do we get to immigration?", perhaps we are getting more "senior" than we thought! Only 6 other people got off the flight here as the rest were going on in transit so all the bags came out quickly ... Except ours!! When it was obvious that no more were coming we dashed to the "lost and found" desk who dispatched a search party. Luckily they found our bags as that plane was off to Frankfurt or somewhere so we wouldn't have seen them again for a few days. Our hotel pick-up driver was still waiting so we thought that was it for the day and by now it was about 10pm but we had only just cleared the airport when all traffic in all directions was stopped by police and we waited and waited until a cavalcade of vehicles with flashing lights came past in the opposite direction (probably carrying some undoubtedly very important person to the airport). By the time we had reached the hotel and checked in it was midnight.

Rowena Enjoying your impressions of Myanmar and getting a laugh from your absolute delight with SE Asian chaos. Hah! Had my plaster cast removed on Friday (hottest day ever recorded in Sydney, 45.8) and was told that I could start weight bearing, in an air boot, the next day. Totally demoralised and discouraged - pain when putting foot down is horrendous, makes me feel sick. (I don't think I'm a wuss as I've only been taking Panadol occasionally and haven't needed anything stronger). I thought weight bearing would be easier, possibly had too high expectations. Go back to the doctor's 18 Feb when he'll advise me about Physio. Tony sick of being homemaker and keen to go home. Love. Row & Tony
