Our SE Asia Tour 2013
As our friends had never been to Bangkok, a visit to the Royal Palace was suggested. We were joined by Duen & Rerk (our Thai friends). Rerk had organised a mini van and driver which made life a lot easier. We arrived at the Palace to be confronted by hordes of tourists. Duen and Cheryl opted out of the Palace tour and the rest were carried along in the crowd to the Palace.
Duen & Cheryl had a leisurely stroll through a nearby food market sampling the food along the way.
The others joined the free English tour of the Palace. Great discussion on where to lunch as Bangkok's traffic always has to be considered. As we had opted to visit Jim Thompson's house in the afternoon we decided to lunch there as well.
We had to join a tour to visit the house (which is actually a collection of 6 traditional houses joined together) which was very interesting as he had a large exquisite collection of South East Asian antiques.
Duen was joining us for dinner and we all opted to go back to our friendly neighbourhood restaurant as it was so good. Duen ordered this time and we had everything we had eaten the night before plus a whole lot more.
